Privacy Policy

1. Overview

LSProfiles is built with privacy as a core principle. We collect only the information necessary to operate the Service, and we give you granular control over what others can see on your profile. We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

2. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information:

  • Account information: Email address and password (hashed, never stored in plain text)
  • Profile information: Name, age, physical attributes, interests, bio, and other details you choose to add
  • Photos: Profile photos you upload, stored securely on our servers
  • Usage data: QR code scan counts, connection activity, and page visits (via privacy-friendly Umami analytics — no cookies, no cross-site tracking)

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information solely to:

  • Operate and improve the Service
  • Display your profile to others according to your privacy settings
  • Generate and serve your QR code
  • Send account-related communications (e.g., password resets)

4. Privacy Controls

You have full control over your profile visibility. Each section of your profile can be set to one of three levels:

  • Public — visible to anyone who scans your QR code
  • Connections — visible only to accepted connections
  • Private — visible only to you

Sensitive fields like messaging handles default to "Connections only." You can change these settings at any time in your profile settings.

5. Search Engine Indexing

Public profile pages (/p/username) are not indexed by search engines. We include a noindex directive on all profile pages to protect your privacy.

6. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes. We may share data only in the following limited circumstances:

  • With service providers who help us operate the platform (e.g., cloud storage, CDN), under strict confidentiality agreements
  • When required by law or to protect the safety of users

7. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

8. Security

We use industry-standard security measures including HTTPS encryption, hashed passwords (bcrypt), and secure session tokens. While we take security seriously, no system is 100% secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Your Rights

You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data at any time. You can edit your profile information directly in the app, or contact us to request account deletion.

10. Cookies

LSProfiles uses a single session cookie to keep you logged in. We use Umami for analytics, which is cookieless and does not track you across other websites. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking pixels.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of material changes. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
